Abstract

Currently, Indonesia’s forest area reached 135 million, or 10 percent of the world’s forests. Indonesia’s forests can absorb carbon dioxide gas is about 2.5 kilograms of carbon per cubic meter of gas annually. On the other hand, every minute of Indonesian forest destruction forest area of six football fields. This is due to illegal logging, forest fires and over the functions of the forest. . In addition, deforestation is also caused by legal and illegal mining in forest areas. It has been threatening environmental sustainability and increase global warming. The Indonesian government has made prevention of the widespread destruction of forests to enhance monitoring to forest activity. However, these measures were not able to prevent the destruction of forests to the fullest. Forest damage caused disasters such as landslides, droughts, floods and so forth with the impact of huge losses.

How to prevent damage to Indonesia’s forests to fight global warming? This study presents the local wisdom held Bedouin Tribe in preserving forests. Wisdom Bedouin Tribe include a ban indiscriminate cutting down of trees, especially in protected forests, ban on use of chemicals in the agricultural sector, and housing and residential facilities must use environmentally friendly natural materials. With a system of beliefs, customs, and the intention to maintain the balance of nature, Bedouin tribes have been able to independently support themselves while preserving the natural surroundings.
